DR Congo election: Rights groups warn of instability
Human rights groups are warning about the possibility of violence in the run up to and possible aftermath of elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Clashes have occurred recently between opposition groups and the police, while the logistical challenges of having an election in a country that is so vast and has such poor infrastructure could mean that the election results could be easily tampered with or unknown for some time creating the possibility of increased strife within the country.
