Election violence as Democratic Republic of Congo goes to the polls
The vast central African country of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is proceeding with a vote that experts and opposition leaders say could be a disaster as many polling stations across the nation are not ready for it while violence has also occurred in the lead up to and during the election. Eleven candidates are running for president, though the current incumbent, Joseph Kabila, is expected to win due to the fractured nature of the opposition.
