Italy crisis: Debt cost puts pressure on Mario Monti
Italy's cost of government debt has gone over 7% today, though Mr. Monti did gain the backing of both the largest political parties. The only party that has refused to support his government is the right wing Northern League Party. Mr. Monti says he will remain in power into 2013 and has pledged to put forward austerity measures demanded by the EU.
