Under increased international and domestic pressure, Greek prime minister George Papandreou has dropped plans for a referendum on whether or not his country should accept a €130 billion bailout of his country that would also require Athens to adopt more austerity measures. The prime minister has faced opposition from inside his own party on the referendum and said before the emergency cabinet meeting that he was not resigning.
