Merkel Urges Overhaul of European Union
The continuing crisis in the eurozone is leading German Chancellor Angela Merkel to call for a reevaluation of the structure of the European Union, as she considers greater political coordination and more stringent budget rules to be necessary to deal with the current sovereign debt crisis in the union. The German leader advocated "more Europe" in the face of the crisis, though she still disapproved of the idea of Eurobonds and the German constitutional court would be a factor in any attempt to give more powers to the European Union.
