US to cease observing arms treaty with Russia
The U.S. has said that it no longer will follow the provisions of the Treaty on Conventional Forces in Europe, as Russia stopped doing so years ago and there has been no success in Russia agreeing to do so in the future. The treaty stipulates an exchange of information between the U.S. and Russia on the disposition of forces on the continent while also allowing mutual inspection of military bases.
