Vaclav Havel the dissident playwright who lead the 1989 Velvet Revolution that ended communism in Czechoslovakia, and then was president of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic after Czechoslovakia split in two has died. Havel was a tireless supporter of democracy and liberty, and he was a sharp critic of the Soviet regime causing him to spend over four and a half years in jail due to his activism.
