Americans convicted in Iran say they were hostages
Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer, the two American men who were arrested in Iran in 2009 after hiking into the country from Iraq, said they were imprisoned only because of their nationality. They said that their trial was a sham, that involved no evidence was presented against them and that they were kept in brutal conditions that included solitary confinement and with minimal contact with their families.
