Disapproval Rate for Congress at Record 82% After Debt Talks
The percentage of Americans who disapprove of Congress has reached an all time of 82% in the aftermath of the debt ceiling saga. The nation was particularly disappointed in the actions of the Tea Party and House Speaker John Boehner who now as 57% disapproval rate. American's were in agreement that government spending needed to be cut but differed about the extent of those cuts. However, Americans were in agreement that though the deficit was a problem, they viewed the high unemployment rate as being the real concern. Half of Americans also wanted to see increases in revenue to be apart of the deal while only 44% said it should only be spending cuts.
