Fitch reaffirms top U.S. credit rating
Fitch Ratings has confirmed their rating of AAA, the top rating for a sovereign government, for long term U.S. Government Debt. Fitch said that the one thing, however, that could lead to a downgrade of U.S. debt would be if the Super-Committee charged with coming up with $1.2 trillion in spending cuts failed to come to an agreement or if the economic recovery was weaker then expected. The decision was not supportive to the U.S. stock market, which declined on news of slow growth in the Euro-zone.
