After hackers gain access to the twitter page of Fox News at the beginning of the week and declared the dead of president Obama, the White House still maintains on the short message provider Twitter.

Twitter Town Hall Meeting - Time for a new political age?

By giving the people the opportunity to ask questions directly to their president, Barack Obama recently introduced the Twitter Town Hall Meeting. Obama answered 18 prescreened questions out of nearly 170,000 submitted by users of the microblogging site Twitter, on July 6th in front of a live audience at the White House.

Nevertheless, the US president marked a new historical step of political communication between leaders and the polulation. During the election campaigns in 2008, Obama and his supporters used several social media channels to get in touch with and mobilize electors as well as specific target groups like young people. Obama still trusts the mechanism and blasting power of new media facilities. Therefore he and his team decided to maintain to those techniques, even though wrong messages about him and his politics - remind the last "information" from Fox News about Obama's dead - can spread in same speed.

However, the actions again push the popularity of president Obama and won't be less substantial towards the upcoming election year in the USA.
