Riot police fire projectiles, arrest dozens of Occupy Oakland protesters
Peaceful demonstrations in Oakland as part of the occupy wall street movement have turned into outright riots, which began with an explosion and turned into running battles with riot police where bottle, rocks and explosives were thrown at the police. The demonstrations were peaceful earlier in the day, when 7,000 protested in the city. The situation turned into anarchy after midnight as rioters could be heard yelling, "We are Scott Olson", the Iraq war veteran who was previously injured protesting in Oakland as part of the movement.
