The Stop Online Piracy Act in the U.S. House and the Protect IP Act in the U.S. Senate will block websites that distribute copyrighted material from using payment facilities, have ISP's block their IP addresses, stop search engines ability to link to the sites and could jeopardize entire networks as any website that is involved in linking to the material could be shutdown. The Senate bill is less severe in its action as it requires a court order to seize the website while SOPA does not.
