The United States Senate voted down a measure to bar the arrest, detention and trial of American citizens by the U.S. military. By a 37 to 61, the Udall Amendment was defeated which the heads of the Defense Department, National Intelligence and the FBI has said is counterproductive and harmful. The White has said that it could veto the legislation due to the empowering of the military in such a fashion.
