The meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) in Hawaii this weekend is lending voice to the chorus calling for Europe to resolve its debt problem as, U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has called it the main drag on global economic growth. China and the U.S. will seek to assert themselves within the region as security remains an issue for many of the attendees due to China's rise. The meeting on Saturday includes heads of state and will evaluate global problems such as energy, economics and regulatory co-operation in the region.
