Afghanistan opium production set to rise 61%: UN

The illicit opium trade is due to grow by 61% in Afghanistan as disease last year hurt the crop which is the chief source of revenue for the Taliban insurgency. Currently Afghanistan produces 90% of the world's opiates, making it a key component of the economy and a major cause of corruption within the country.
