Aung San Suu Kyi met with the new Burmese President at the remote capital of Naypyidaw behind closed doors. The meeting was part of an economic council and is apart of the softer line that the new, nominally civilian government, is taking to change the overall situation in the country. The formerly jailed opposition leader was released from house arrest last year after the country's 2010 elections and has been allowed more freedom of movement within the country. The new regime is no longer criticizing foreign media and has begun talks with ethnic minorities that have been a significant form of tension within the country.
