Australia carbon tax protest targets Julia Gillard
Thousands of Australians protested in the capital of Canberra over a planned carbon tax designed to lower green house gas emissions. The proposal from Prime Minister Julia Gillard, who ruled out a carbon tax in her parliamentary campaign, is being refuted by a number of consumers as they believe it will raise prices on home heating and hurt the economy. The issue is now at the forefront of Australian Politics and another protest is planned next week as a convoy of trucks will converge on the capital and attempt to shut down roads within the city.
