Australia parliament passes divisive carbon tax
The lower house of Australia's Parliament has passed a controversial piece of legislation that places a tax on carbon emissions. Prime Minister Julia Gillard has defied her own party in pursuing the piece of legislation, with those opposed to it saying that it will hurt the overall economy.
