Australian PM backs uranium sales to India
Julia Gillard, the prime minister of Australia, has decided to overturn a ban on selling uranium to India, promoting the move as being good for the Australian economy and relations with India. India has not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and has a confirmed nuclear stockpile, detonating a nuclear device in 1998. India has received an exemption from the IAEA to receive nuclear materials and the U.S. signed an agreement with India in 2008 to help support its civilian nuclear program.
