China's urban population outnumbers rural dwellers for first time

China now has 690.79 million people living in cities, a larger percentage then ever before, while rural population fell last year by 14.56 million people. The shift is due to the large number of migrant workers, over 200 million, that have left the countryside to find work in the cities which are primarily located along the eastern coast of the country.
