Wafid Muharam, a secretary in the youth and sport ministry, was caught with $151,550 in cash as part of a bribery investigation starting with the treasurer of the President's own Democrat Party. The arrests have hurt Yudhoyono's party who had a platform of ending corruption, a problem with a long legacy in Indonesia. The former president of Indonesia, Suharto, is estimated to have stolen between $15 billion and $35 billion during his time in office.
