Five South Koreans charged with spying for North Korea
Five South Korean men were charged with providing intelligence to the North Korean Government for a twenty year period of time. The ringleader of the men, who was known as Mr. Kim, supposedly met Kim Il-sung in 1993 and had operatives acquiring satellite imagery of major military installations, U.S. field manuals and information about South Korean politicians from those both in power and in the opposition. Two of the men operated out of Seoul, the capital of South Korea, and another operated in Incheon where South Korea's main airport is located. The operation hoped to use Incheon as base to expand their operation while one of the men was also a parliamentary aide.
