The Nur Otan party won 80% of the vote in Kazakhstan's recent parliamentary elections which is being viewed as flawed by international observers. A number of opposition candidates have been barred from running in the election, while the two other parties that crossed the 7% threshold needed to be seated in parliament are both viewed as friendly to the government.
