Second Tibetan Monk Burns Himself to Death in Protest
The second Buddhist Monk in five months has lit himself on fire in protest to the policies of the Chinese Government in the Sichuan Province. The act was carried out on a bridge while the monk was heard calling for the return of the Dalai Lama and freedom for the Tibetan People. The region is overwhelming populated by Tibetans and the Chinese Government has stifled all expression for more autonomy for Tibet or support for the Dalai Lama. The Chinese have had an crackdown on dissent in the region after the first monk lit himself on fire which intensified after the Dalai Lama 76th birthday was celebrated on July 6th in the province.
