Troop levels to drop by 40,000 in Afghanistan
Coalition forces will be reduced by 40,000 by 2012, with the largest number of troop reductions coming from the U.S. which will decrease its total by 33,000 troops in Afghanistan. Afghan soldiers will take over security in a number of provinces with the hope of them being able to secure the entire country in 3 years time.
