European Bank Stress Measurements Hit Levels Unseen Since Lehman Collapse
European Banks are now at the point where they are increasingly reliant on the European Central Bank for funding. Currently, banks in the region are having to pay a premium on interbank borrowing at levels not seen since December 2008. Also, northern European banks are unwilling to lend money to their southern colleagues, putting the European Central Bank at the center of lending for the distressed European periphery economies.
