German Leader Reaffirms Backing for Greece
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou met in Berlin today with each voicing support for the common currency and a desire for fiscal integration throughout the euro-zone. The situation has become quite tense with a key piece of legislation requiring passage today in Greece to secure bailout funds, protests in Athens and a bill to increase the size of the European Financial Stability Facility that has to be passed in Germany in two days.
