A 24 hour transport strike has hit Greece as train, taxi and bus drivers have stopped work while air traffic controllers will strike for several hours today against the cutting of pensions and civil servant jobs as part of the austerity plans that need to be enacted for Greece to get the next part of its loan from the IMF and the other euro-zone countries. The government has come under fire from both unions and the business community for the new measures but the government maintains that not passing such measures could lead to a Greek default or the inability to pay any wages to state employees.
